Rome Trip Advices & Practical Travel Information

In visiting Rome it is good to remember the old saying "Roma, una vita non basta" (To visit and feel Rome, a lifetime is not enough). So the more time you can spend in Rome is the better. One week could be nice to get a small feel of the neighbourhoods on top of monument visiting. Three days would be basically fast paced monument sightseeing. If you've never been to Rome, one day would be insane.

As with most large cities, you'll find your lot of inconveniences trying to visit Rome by car: finding parking spaces, traffic, parking fees, damage or theft risks.

The best option we suggest would be to leave your car parked for the length of your stay in Rome and visit the city by foot and using public transportations. See where to park your car in Rome for some parking options.

Be very careful of appartment renting scams when making an online reservation. Do not send money via the internet without making sure that the appartment really exists.

Beware also of teens or even children gangs that could rush around you pleeding for money. Your wallet could "mysteriously" disapear at the same time.

There are nicer periods of the year to visit Rome. Find more information about Rome's climate and when to go.

A nice thing to remember, especially when the weather is hot, is that people can drink from the famous Roman public place fountains.

One of the nice ways to visit Rome is on a boat cruising down the Tiber river.
