The Kings Canyon National Park is located on the southern end of the Sierra Nevada mountain range, which cuts through the city of Fresno, California. Founded in 1940, Kings Canyon National Park covers an area of 462, 901 acres, or 187, 329 hectares. It is currently under the administration of the National Park Service, a U. S. Federal Agency which is in-charge of managing all the parks and monuments in the entire country. Kings Canyon National Park is a haven for those who are looking to escape the hustle and bustle of the busy city life and to simply relax, unwind and commune with nature. Because of the protection provided to the park, it is a great preservation site where visitors can get up close and personal with truly unspoiled natural sceneries and surroundings. The highlight of this park is the Kings Canyon. Formed by the Kings River, it is the deepest gorge in the entire United States and can only be accessed by visitors on one end of the canyon. The number of activities travelers can do while visiting Kings Canyon National Park is as endless as the sceneries are picturesque. One highly recommended activity to do while visiting Kings Canyon National Park is to take a hike in any of the 20 different trails that make their way through the park. The best of these trails are those that are found in Grant Grove, a small section of the park located on its western side. Here, travelers are able to enjoy their day hikes underneath the shade of giant sequoia trees, many of which are hundreds of years old.
