Norte Region Guide

Overview

The northern most country region of Portugal offers a lush historical background, diverse wealth and plenty of thick foliage. The manors and mansions gracing the area have coat of arms, dating back to the twelfth century during the time of the Christian Reconquest. The Norte region is one of five mainland regions in Portugal and occupies what is also known as the Costa Verde and northern Montanhas regions. Porto is the most famous of the region's cities.

If your course runs to good beer or good port, you should consider checking out the 'Solar Vino do Porto', this 18th century villa plays host to an abundant of summer activities sure to delight the hard to please personalities.

Are you a connoisseur of fine art? Dream away your days with the 'Fundacao Serralves - Museu de Arte Contemporanea'. This museum is filled with fantastic works of art from the neo deco era. Paintings and master pieces from today's contemporary artists are sure to light the faces of those who visit the Museum.

Architecture is one of the most wonderful attractions when you visit foreign soil. Do not miss the 'Ponte D. Luis I'. This bridge was built in 1886 and links the two cities Gaia and Porto together. Be sure to take your camera with you, while you walk around the city and cross the bridge. Unforgettable sights abound from the bridge as you cross midway.
