Overview

The Balearic Islands refers to a group of 151 islands, which comprise an archipelago situated in the western region of the Mediterranean Sea. However, in this archipelago, only 5 islands are inhabited. It is comprised of four major islands and a number of smaller islands, all of which are part of an autonomous region in Spain. The four major islands are Majorca, Minorca, Ibiza and Formentera. Palma de Mallorca is the capital city. Spanish and Catalan are the official languages.

Also known as the Senior Island, Majorca is home to some of the most picturesque landscapes and sceneries in the world. From majestic mountains to pristine white sand beaches, the island of Majorca offers travellers an opportunity to enjoy a wide variety of activities from mountain climbing and trekking to water sports such as jet skiing and diving. Puig Major in Mallorca is the highest point in Balearic Islands.

For those who are looking for a little bit of the nightlife, Ibiza is the island paradise for you. Recognized as the birthplace of rave music, the island of Ibiza is home of some of the best clubs in this side of Europe where partying all night until the sun comes up is the way of life.

Formentera Island is a place where you can listen to jazz at the nighttime. There are a variety of festivals like La Virgen del Carmen and Pilar de la Mola, celebrated here that are marked with traditional balls and activities. One can find many water sport activities here. Kitesurfing, Catamaran, and Windsurfing are quite popular.
