The Canadian Pacific Rim National Park, located in British Columbia,Canada. It spreads across 511 km sq surrounded by Vancouver Island Ranges and the Pacific Ocean. Popularly described as temperate rainforests, the park is open between mid March and October to the amalgamation of three regions - Long Beach, the Broken Group Islands, and West Coast Trail. The weather here is humid with coastal climate and home to wildlife, marine mammals and over 300 species of birds. It's a perfect setting – beaches, wildlife, flora and fauna a well as history with archeological sites.
Long Beach is the most visited region popular for being James Cook landing site. With adequate camping facilities and the educational Wickaninnish Interpretive Centre, it is a key attraction. Broken Group Islands comprise of 100 islands reachable by boat only. With no fresh water access, this region is popular mostly amongst kayakers. The West Coast trail is the most challenging hiking trail with rocky beaches, rain forest and a muddy path to tread on. With the rugged surface of the region, close to 66 ships have had mishaps in this region naming it as the 'Graveyard of the Pacific'.
Popular activities in this region include camping, canoeing, kayaking, cycling, mountain bilking, fishing, diving, hiking, wind surfing and whale watching. Villages here like Ucluelet and Tofino play host to the Annual Whale Festival marking the whale migration season. One can reach the park by a sea plane from Vancouver or Seattle or via the West Coast express bus service.
