The Saharan region of Algeria is mostly a desert landscape that covers about 80% (eighty percent) of the country of Algeria.
The region starts more as a rocky desert near the country's Saharan Atlas mountain range. Then moving down south, the land becomes more covered by sand dunes.
There are cities located around the Algerian desert, like
Touggourt, that are considered to be the warmest on the planet during summer.
The Tassili n'Ajjer Park and mountains region, in the southeastern part of Algeria, is part of the World Heritage List by UNESCO for its archeological value.
