Summer is the festival season. On the Acadian side, the Foire Brayonne at Edmundston, held each August since 1985, is one of the largest French-language festivals in Canada outside Quebec, and National Acadian Day on 15 August fills the north and east with the tintamarre, music and the Acadian flag. Shediac's Lobster Festival in July celebrates the Northumberland Strait catch.
Fredericton's Harvest festival (long the Harvest Jazz & Blues Festival) takes over the downtown for several days each September with blues, jazz, roots and rock, the province's biggest music event. Along the coasts, community lobster suppers, county fairs and Acadian celebrations run through July and August. Confirm exact dates with each festival before travelling; they shift year to year.
