Keep a little mystery in your trip planning: flip this switch on and Explorer Picture Mode shows a stylized version of every place instead of the real photo, so you can go by the description and reviews first and picture it your own way -- turn it off again any time, or reveal the real photo for just one place at a time from its own page.

Getting Around

Changed

Barichara has no airport of its own -- most visitors fly into Bucaramanga's Palonegro International Airport, then continue by road (roughly 2-3 hours) or via the closer town of San Gil (around 30-45 minutes), which has more frequent onward transport. The town center itself is small and easily walkable, with narrow colonial streets that give it an almost car-free feel even where vehicles are technically allowed. The Camino Real, a centuries-old stone trail connecting Barichara to the nearby village of Guane, is a popular half-day walk rather than a means of practical transport.
