The Great Hungarian Plain is a plain or depression that occupies the southern and eastern part of Hungary, some parts of eastern Slovakia, southwestern Ukraine, western Romania, northern Serbia, and eastern Croatia. It is the largest part of the Pannonian plain.
Geographic boundaries
Its geographical limits are: to the north and east, the Carpathian Mountains, the Transdanubian Mountains and Croatian Mountains (SW), and approximately to the south, the Sava River. Its territory within Hungary is 52,000 km² and comprises approximately 56% of the country. Its total territory is 100,000 km².
