Vicenza's sights divide cleanly in two. Inside the walls, Palladio's public buildings line a single street: the Teatro Olimpico at the north-east end of Corso Andrea Palladio, the Basilica Palladiana and Piazza dei Signori halfway along, Palazzo Chiericati near the theatre. Outside them, on the hillside to the south, sit the villas -- La Rotonda and Villa Valmarana ai Nani within a few minutes' walk of each other -- and the pilgrimage church on Monte Berico above.
