Gujarat Events

Navratri and Garba: nine nights of worship and collective dance, usually in September or October. Formats range from neighbourhood circles to large ticketed grounds. Dates move each year; confirm the current calendar and dress or access expectations.

Uttarayan: kite flying around 14 January fills rooftops and public venues. Ahmedabad's International Kite Festival is a separate organised programme whose dates and entry arrangements should be checked annually. Sharp kite string creates real risk for birds and road users.

Rann Utsav: a winter tourism programme in Kutch associated with Dhordo and the White Rann. The operating period, tent accommodation and access permits change by season.

Pilgrimage calendars: Dwarka, Somnath, Ambaji, Pavagadh, Palitana and other sacred sites have major observances that affect crowds and transport.

Local fairs: Tarnetar, Vautha and district festivals can be significant, but dates and visitor logistics need current confirmation.

Verified against UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage, October 2026.
