Modena Climate Patterns

Modena has the humid continental climate of the Po plain: hot, muggy summers often in the mid thirties Celsius, and cold damp winters generally between minus one and seven, with hard frosts and long spells of fog.

Snow falls most winters. Spring and autumn are short and are much the best time to be here.

Winter air quality is poor across the whole valley during settled weather, and Modena is no exception. The Apennine foothills half an hour south are the usual escape, and the mountains beyond them hold snow into spring.
