How to Get Around Udine

Udine is flat, compact and easy, apart from one hill.

The centre is level and walkable end to end in twenty minutes, with the only climb being the ramp up to the castle.

Parking is in paid areas around the ring roads, with free spaces further out; the centre is largely restricted to residents.

The station is about a kilometre south of Piazza della Libertà, an easy walk or a short bus ride.

City buses are adequate and mostly unnecessary for a visitor.

Cycling works well here; the city is flat and has a growing network, and the plain around it is easy riding.

A car is needed for the wine hills, San Daniele, Aquileia and the mountains, all of which are the reason to base here.
