Bergamo Climate Patterns
Bergamo has a humid subtropical-to-continental climate typical of the Po basin. Summers are hot and humid, regularly reaching the low thirties Celsius, with thunderstorms breaking over the mountains in the afternoon.
Winters are cold and damp, generally between zero and seven degrees, with frost common and occasional snow. Fog is the characteristic winter weather of the plain and can sit for days.
The elevation difference between the two halves of the city is enough to matter: on a still winter morning the Città Bassa can be in thick fog while the Città Alta is in sunshine above it, looking out over the top of the cloud. It is worth going up specifically to see.
