Mantua Climate Patterns

Mantua has a humid subtropical climate of the Po basin type. Summers are hot and heavy, regularly in the low to mid thirties Celsius, and the lakes raise the humidity noticeably — mosquitoes are a genuine feature of summer evenings here.

Winters are cold and damp, often between minus two and six degrees, with frost frequent and fog persistent; the lakes can freeze at the edges. Snow is occasional rather than reliable.

Spring and autumn are short, mild and the best of it. The lotus on the Lago Superiore flowers roughly from July into August, which is the one thing worth tolerating the summer humidity for.
