How to Get Around Agnone

Agnone is small, linear and steep off its spine.

The corso runs the length of the town and is walkable end to end in twenty minutes, on the level.

Everything off it drops away steeply in stepped lanes.

Parking is at the ends of the town and is free and easy except on 24 December.

There is no railway anywhere near; the nearest station is Isernia, about an hour by road.

Buses run to Isernia, Campobasso and, less often, Rome, on timetables built around work and school.

A car is effectively required for Pietrabbondante, the forests and anything else in the Alto Molise.

Mountain roads here are narrow, winding and closed by snow in winter; the Sente viaduct has been subject to closure.
