How to Get Around Olbia

Olbia is flat and walkable; everything else needs a car.

The centre is compact, level and easy, and San Simplicio and the museum are both within walking distance of the Corso.

The airport is about four kilometres out, with buses and taxis into town.

The port is adjacent to the centre, and the ferry terminal is a short bus ride or a long walk.

Buses run to the Costa Smeralda and the coastal villages, more frequently in summer and sparsely otherwise.

Trains run south towards Cagliari on a slow line.

A car is close to essential for the coast and the interior, and Olbia is where almost everyone hires one. Note that Costa Smeralda parking in August is both scarce and expensive, and several of the best beaches now cap daily numbers.
