Palermo Climate Patterns

Palermo has a hot Mediterranean climate moderated by the sea. Summers are long, dry and hot, usually in the low thirties Celsius with high humidity near the coast; rain between June and August is rare.

Winters are mild and wet, typically between ten and seventeen degrees in the day, and are genuinely pleasant — Palermo is a viable winter city break in a way most of Italy is not.

The scirocco blows up from North Africa several times a year, most often in spring and autumn, bringing sudden heat, dust and a heavy, still atmosphere.

Sea temperatures stay swimmable into late October, which is worth knowing for Mondello.
