How to Get Around Bolzano

Bolzano is small, flat and has unusually good public transport.

The centre is walkable end to end in twenty minutes and largely pedestrian.

Buses are frequent, punctual and cheap, and reach the valley villages.

Three cable cars leave from the city itself, to Renon, San Genesio and Colle, and function as public transport rather than as attractions; the Renon one connects to a narrow-gauge railway on the plateau.

Cycling is exceptional here: the city has a dense network and the valley cycle paths run for a hundred kilometres along the Adige.

Parking is expensive and restricted in the centre.

The station is a five-minute walk from Piazza Walther.

A car is useful for the Dolomites and unnecessary for everything else.
