How to Get Around Merano

Merano is small, largely flat, and designed for walking.

The centre and the promenades are crossed on foot in twenty minutes, on the level and mostly shaded.

The Tappeiner and the hill paths climb, but gently and with benches, because they were built for people who were unwell.

Buses are frequent and reach Tirolo, Scena, Lagundo and the valley villages.

The station is a ten-minute walk from the centre.

Two cable cars from near the town reach Merano 2000 and Verano, both of which are walking and skiing country.

Cycling is excellent, with the Adige and Passer valley paths meeting here.

A car is useful for the Val Venosta and the Passeier valley and unnecessary in town.
