Last updated on October 16, 2026Before 1833: a small chapel. The church stands on the site of one whose construction was authorised by the bishop of Fiesole, Fuligno Carboni.
1833–1835. The prepositura was rebuilt in neo-Renaissance forms, to a design by Luigi de Cambray-Digny, in a manner that reflects the taste of the classicism of the Restoration — the political moment is in the architecture.
1913. The bell tower, originally lower, was raised by one cell. The new cell holds four bells by the Pistoiese Terzo Rafanelli.
And, across all of it, the gathering. The church's contents are a record of other buildings: the Maestro di Greve fresco from a tabernacle under the square's loggias; the Bicci di Lorenzo triptych from San Silvestro a Convertoie; the Spanish Crucifix from the pieve di San Cresci a Montefioralle. A 19th-century parish church became the comune's safe-deposit.
