Practical Information for visiting Este
Getting Around
Este has a railway station on the Mantua–Monselice line, about an hour from Padua, and the centre is a short walk from it. A car is unnecessary.
The museum charges a modest state-museum admission and closes on Mondays. The castle garden, the walls and the town are free.
Allow two hours for museum and castle together. The museum is accessible; the castle garden climbs the hillside on gravel paths and steepens toward the keep.
It combines naturally with Monselice, fifteen minutes east on the same line, and with Arquà Petrarca in the hills above.
