Keep a little mystery in your trip planning: Explorer Picture Mode shows a stylized version of every place instead of the real photo, so you can go by the description and reviews first and picture it your own way -- reveal the real photo any time by flipping the switch off, or just for one place at a time from its own page.

Fortifications of Quebec

/10

Overview

Changed
The fortifications of Quebec City were built in the 17th century. The newly born city founded by Samuel de Champlain was strategically located on a hill overlooking a narrowing the St.Laurence River. The fortifications were to defend the city in case of wars but also to enhance it's authoritative control, by embedding long range canons, over ships wanting to pass by.
