A short way inland from the Long Island Sound is the town of Storrs, Connecticut. It’s most well known because it’s the home of the University of Connecticut which was originally founded in 1881, but was initially called the Agricultural School. This is also one of the older towns in the New England area, and it was originally founded around 1700.
There are a number of area attractions that find their home in Storrs, Connecticut, which include:
- Nature lovers, hikers, and cyclists will enjoy the Albert E. Moss Forest and the Mansfield Hollow State Park. These wonderful sites have some great trails, and photographers will have a wonderful time taking pictures of the wonderful scenery.
- Travelers who enjoy museums will have a great time with the collections that are found in the Benton Museum. It contains a permanent collection of great American art, and is host to numerous traveling exhibits throughout the year.
- People who love trains will be thrilled with the Connecticut Eastern Railroad museum. It has a great collection of locomotives and vintage depots. There’s even an old pump car from the 1850s that the kids will have a blast playing on.
- There are also some wonderful parks and playgrounds in town that are perfect for picnics and letting the kids play on the swings, slides, and other playground equipment.
