How to Get Around Masovia

Warsaw’s public transport is excellent and cheap: two metro lines, an extensive tram network and buses, all on one ticket and one app. Chopin Airport connects to the centre by train in about twenty minutes; Modlin, used by budget airlines, is further out and needs a bus and train.

Trains are the way around Poland. Intercity and the fast Pendolino services run from Warsaw Central to Krakow in under two and a half hours and to Gdansk in under three. Book ahead for the cheapest fares.

Regional trains and buses reach the Masovian towns, and Zelazowa Wola and Kampinos are both easy day trips.

Cycling is good: Warsaw has extensive lanes, a bike-share scheme and a long riverside path on both banks.

Driving is unnecessary in the city and straightforward outside it; Poland’s motorway network has improved enormously.
