How to Get Around Silesia

Getting Around

Public transport across the conurbation is dense and cheap. Trams, buses and trains run between Katowice, Gliwice, Zabrze, Bytom, Sosnowiec and the rest on a single integrated ticket, and the tram network is among the largest in Europe.

Getting in: Katowice airport at Pyrzowice serves budget airlines; Krakow is an hour away by train and is the better connected of the two. Trains from Warsaw take about two and a half hours.

To Czestochowa: trains from Katowice take about an hour and a half.

To the Beskids: trains and buses to Bielsko-Biala, Wisla and Zywiec.

A car is useful for the Eagles’ Nests trail, where the castles are scattered, and unnecessary in the conurbation, where parking is difficult and the trams are better.

Bolt and Uber operate in Katowice.
