How to Get Around Seychelles

Getting in. Seychelles International on Mahé is the only international airport, with flights from the Gulf, Addis Ababa, Nairobi, Mauritius and seasonally from Europe.

Between islands. Fast catamaran ferries link Mahé, Praslin and La Digue several times a day — about an hour to Praslin and fifteen minutes on to La Digue — and should be booked ahead in high season. Air Seychelles flies Mahé to Praslin in fifteen minutes, and the outer islands are reached only by charter flight or liveaboard.

On Mahé. A cheap and genuinely useful public bus network covers the island, and hire cars are widely available — note that driving is on the left, the roads are narrow and steep, and a small car is easier than a large one.

On La Digue. There are almost no private cars. Bicycles are the standard transport, with ox-carts and a few taxis, and the island is small enough to cross in half an hour.
