January centres on the Australian Open. The 2027 tournament is scheduled for 11–31 January, with the main draw from 17–31 January. The tennis precinct is close to the centre, so crowds spill into trains, trams, restaurants and riverfront routes.

March and April bring Moomba, the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix and the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, with dates shifting by year. Albert Park, central theatres and riverfront spaces experience different pressure; verify the exact venue before choosing accommodation.

Winter favours indoor exhibitions, theatre, film and arts festivals. RISING usually anchors early winter, while the Melbourne International Film Festival follows in August. Current programmes change substantially from one edition to the next.

September culminates in the AFL Grand Final at the MCG. Late October and November bring the Melbourne Cup Carnival at Flemington. December includes the Boxing Day Test. These events affect transport and room prices well beyond their gates.

Use the organiser's current calendar for every event. A familiar annual name is not evidence that the date, venue, ticket model or access route has stayed the same.
