Margaret River

Situated in the far southwest corner of Australia, Margaret River is a land of sweeping vineyards and legendary surf. It’s blessed with an alluring maritime climate that buffers the extremes of hot and cold that affect other areas of Western Australia, with fertile soils that have proved ideal for growing grapes.

Spend a day cycling or driving between Margaret River’s cellar doors, with Sauvignon Blancs, Semillon blends, Chardonnays and Cabernets among the most popular varieties produced in the more than 150 wineries found here. Gourmet restaurants also dot the region where you can dine on locally-sourced, seasonal fare, accompanied by your favorite drop.

Margaret River features magnificent scenery that includes idyllic, white sandy beaches and tall timber forests, with plenty of walking trails to explore. Spring is a particularly photogenic time to visit when wildflowers ignite the landscape along the famous Cape to Cape Track.

Be sure to visit the impressive limestone caves of Margaret River, including Mammoth Cave that features stunning stalactites and stalagmites, as well as prehistoric fossils. After a self-guided tour through this cave, you’ll emerge to a beautiful marri forest where native birds can be spotted. Also of note is spectacular Lake Cave that is home to a stunning crystal decoration known as the ”suspended table”.
