Keep a little mystery in your trip planning: flip this switch on and Explorer Picture Mode shows a stylized version of every place instead of the real photo, so you can go by the description and reviews first and picture it your own way -- turn it off again any time, or reveal the real photo for just one place at a time from its own page.

Overview

Changed
Old Strathcona is located in the central area of Alberta, Canada. This was used to be the commercial capital of Strathcona, however, now it is considered to be the entertainment district of Edmonton and it has a variety of shops, restaurants and popular nightlife for all to enjoy.

There is no end to the possibilities available for all sorts of entertainment in this historic and artistic environment. You can find cafes like the Starbucks and you can get the best of music and entertainment at the Whyte Avenue with the majority of clubs and hotels being situated on that area.

You have a good combination of international cuisine to choose from as well in Old Strathcona, and you even have the Yiannis restaurant, a Greek specialist. There are more that 100 eat-outs to choose from and they are all run by locals.

As far as celebrations are concerned, there are going on all year round. You will find the Ice of Whyte, which is a sculpting competition and outdoor ice playground in January. Then in June you will have theatrical events which attract many people from all over and start with the Silly Summer parade.

Old Strathcona offers the best of arts, shopping and entertainment in a very unique and historic set up all year round.
