Ancient Dali

Dali's Ancient City is also called the Backpackers' Paradise. The Bai culture draws tourists in to observe the fascinating culture of the Bai people. It was a walled city when it was first established over 600 years ago. A gate is located on each side of the wall. Over the years, the walls and the gates have suffered damages, but these were renovated in 1983. This ancient city is a favorite stopping point for those on the Great Silk Road. It had its markets and shops. What's great about the city is that it has largely preserved its original ambiance. Here, you can enjoy shopping for most of the traditional Chinese wares – silk, oil coins, silverware, marble products and so much more.
