The region is primarily made up of mountain ranges, most of which are comprised of the Dinaric Alps.

If you are planning to take a trip to the region of Epirus, the best place to start your trip is in the capital city of Ioannina. Surrounded by picturesque landscapes and proud of its rich historical and cultural heritage, the city of Ioannina is considered to be one of the most beautiful cities in Greece. During the height of the Byzantine Empire, the city of Ioannina had been renowned not just as a financial and cultural hub, it had also been known as the “Metropolis of Knowledge”. Today, the city of Ioannina remains to be a center of culture in Greece. One of the most visited tourist destinations in the city is the Theater of Dodona. The theater is considered as one of the best preserved ancient theaters you can visit in the country.
