Keep a little mystery in your trip planning: Explorer Picture Mode shows a stylized version of every place instead of the real photo, so you can go by the description and reviews first and picture it your own way -- reveal the real photo any time by flipping the switch off, or just for one place at a time from its own page.

You cannot leave Porto without a port wine tasting in Vila Nova de Gaia. This district, also known as Gaia, is home to the terracotta-topped port houses that store most of the world’s supply of Port. Enjoy the ambiance from one of the cafes and restaurants at the riverfront or make a boat trip on a "Rabelo" - a ship that was used to transport the port barrels on the river Douro.
Tip: Come here in the late afternoon and stay for dinner at the river front while you are enjoying the view over the Douro river.
