GONDWANA - the Prehistorium

Transporting visitors back to the prehistoric world of the dinosaurs, GONDWANA - the Prehistorium is an interactive and immersive science museum in Schiffweiler. Visitors are greeted by an introductory 3D film “Evolution” that explores nearly four billion years of evolution and offers a fascinating insight in-to our past.

Wander through the life-like primeval landscapes of the Evolution Live exhibit to experience the sights, sounds and smells of the prehistoric world, then learn about the developments of mammals and humans in the Time Travel area. The ZERA Zeitexpress travel agency will guide you step-by-step through some of the most important moments in history, with light, sound and language simulators immersing you in the Age of Discovery, the Industrial Age and Ancient Egypt.

Come face-to-face with the biggest shark known to man at the animated Megalodon exhibit where you can witness a 100-ton prehistoric basking shark. Having lived around five million years ago, his teeth were up to 18 centimeters in height with a biting power that’s ten times stronger than the great white shark.

Young and old alike will enjoy the Dinosaur Show that features giant, animatron-ic dinosaurs within a Cretaceous-era Patagonian landscape. Experience the pow-er of the Titanosaurus, Giganotosaurus and Aucasaurus as they threaten each other and their newly hatched babies.

GONDWANA - the Prehistorium also features a Paleolab exhibition area that illustrates how paleontologists and taxidermists work, with guests invited to look over the researchers’ shoulders and ask questions.
