Republic Day is observed on 26 January, with the national parade on Kartavya Path and the Beating Retreat period following. Tickets, seating, parking, security zones and transport arrangements change each year; use the Ministry of Defence's current Rashtraparv information.

Independence Day is observed on 15 August, centred nationally on the Red Fort. Security restrictions affect Old Delhi and other sensitive areas before and during the event. Do not build a normal sightseeing day around last year's access pattern.

Holi falls in late winter or spring on a changing calendar. Public colour celebrations can be joyous and physically intense; choose a trusted setting, protect eyes and belongings, and confirm whether the accommodation, guide or site operates normally.

Diwali falls in October or November according to the lunar calendar. Markets, homes and public spaces are illuminated, while traffic and air quality can worsen. Follow current firework restrictions and pollution guidance rather than assuming every event shown online is authorised.

Delhi also hosts book, art, music, food, craft and religious programmes throughout the year. Their practical impact is local. Check the organiser, venue, nearest station and official traffic notice together.
