Ahmedabad Events

Navratri and Garba: nine nights of devotional and social dance transform venues across the city. UNESCO recognises Garba of Gujarat as living intangible heritage. Dates follow the religious calendar, and access, dress and participation rules vary by organiser.

Uttarayan: rooftops fill with kite flying around 14 January, while Gujarat Tourism has organised an International Kite Festival in Ahmedabad since 1989. Confirm the current programme, protect rooftop edges and use bird-safe, legally permitted line.

Rath Yatra: the Jagannath Temple procession is a major religious and security-managed event. Its route produces substantial closures and crowds; follow current police and temple information rather than an old itinerary.

Religious calendars: Jain, Hindu and Muslim observances affect worship, markets and access throughout the old city. Ask before treating a procession as a performance.

Trade and design events: exhibitions and conferences can tighten rooms and traffic. Verify exact venue and date because “Ahmedabad” events may also use Gandhinagar.

Verified against UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage, October 2026.
