Bollywood & Film City
Last updated on October 20, 2026Why visit Bollywood & Film City
Film City can make the physical work behind Mumbai's screen culture visible: a façade may be only one usable angle, a street may lead nowhere, and a studio floor changes identity between productions. That contrast between finished image and temporary construction is the real draw.
Access is the friction. The complex is an active workplace, tours can change with filming and security, and no honest itinerary can promise a celebrity sighting or a particular set. Confirm directly with the operator before travelling to Goregaon.
Visit if you:
- want to understand production spaces rather than collect celebrity addresses
- are comfortable with a guided, controlled route
- can accept that working areas change from day to day
Skip it if you:
- expect free wandering or guaranteed access to filming
- have not received current tour confirmation

Visit responsibly
Sets are workplaces. Keep behind the guide, do not touch props or equipment, and never interrupt a take to improve a photograph.
People working on a production have not consented to become part of a tour. Follow the day's photography rules and ask before making identifiable images of cast or crew.
The green campus edge connects with urban forest habitat. Keep food and waste contained, do not feed macaques and remain on authorised roads or paths.
Avoid tours that promise unauthorised access or guaranteed celebrity encounters. Confirm the provider through Film City's own channel.

Book only a confirmed authorised visit
The state corporation operates Film City as a production facility and links to visitor-tour information from its official site. Contact the operator for the current provider, departure point, identity requirements, price and cancellation policy before travelling.
What is free
There is no dependable free public route through Film City. Read the official history and public-facing material online at no cost; physical access requires current authorisation.
Expect security to restrict photography or close locations without notice. A tour ticket does not confer access to actors, private production areas or whichever set a guidebook names.

When to visit
November through February is usually the easiest general window. Mumbai's 1991–2020 climate normals show a very wet southwest monsoon from June through September and warmer, more humid conditions on either side.
Film City combines outdoor transfers with indoor stages, while active production determines the route. During monsoon weather, check current transport or site guidance before leaving; heavy rain can turn a short transfer into the main constraint. In the dry season, early hours generally bring milder heat and clearer working space.
