Jaipur
Practical information for visiting Jaipur
Connectivity & Internet
Air: Jaipur International Airport at Sanganer is the city's airport. Routes and terminals change, so verify with the airline and current operator information.
Rail: Jaipur Junction connects the city with major Indian rail corridors. Other local stations also exist; travel to the exact station named on the ticket.
Road: Rajasthan state and private buses link Jaipur with cities across the state and with Delhi and Agra corridors. Boarding points, service classes and journey times are operational facts to confirm.
Local network: Metro, buses, autos, taxis, app-booked vehicles and walking cover different scales. No single mode joins every fort, bazaar and southern district efficiently.
Digital: cellular data is generally available across the city, but save tickets, hotel directions, identity copies and a map offline. Dense bazaars and several similarly named gates can make a live pin less useful than a written landmark.

Stay safe (2026 security update)
Control phones, wallets and bags in bazaars, stations, festival routes and crowded monument entrances. Step out of the pedestrian flow before checking a map, and ignore unsolicited claims that a hotel, attraction or shop is closed.
Use authorised airport transport, matched app-booked vehicles or an agreed taxi or auto. Confirm the registration and destination before departure, and keep the hotel address available offline.
Traffic is a direct risk. Use designated crossings where possible, look in every direction and do not follow another pedestrian blindly between vehicles.
Extreme heat, lightning and intense monsoon rain can make an ordinary route unsafe. Follow IMD and Rajasthan warnings, do not enter flooded underpasses or fast-moving water, and stop exposed sightseeing during severe conditions.
In dense events, agree on a meeting point and keep an alternate exit. Dial 112 for urgent police, fire, medical or rescue assistance.
Health considerations
Heat is Jaipur's most important seasonal health risk. From spring into early summer, begin outdoor activity early, carry safe drinking water, use shade and reduce exertion. Follow current IMD warnings and national heat-health guidance.
Use treated or reliably sealed water and choose freshly cooked food with good turnover. Carry oral rehydration supplies and enough regular medication for a transport delay.
Air quality, dust and smoke vary by day and season. Travellers with respiratory or cardiovascular conditions should check current official readings and use personal medical advice when adjusting activity.
Monsoon conditions increase mosquito exposure. Use repellent and effective screens or air conditioning, and seek qualified care for fever rather than self-diagnosing.
Do not feed or touch macaques, dogs or other animals. Seek urgent medical assessment after any bite or scratch. Carry travel insurance and the details of a reputable clinic or hospital; call 112 for an emergency.

Emergency information
Dial 112 for urgent police, fire, medical or rescue assistance in Jaipur. The national Emergency Response Support System covers Rajasthan.
Give the neighbourhood, road, nearest gate, chaupar, station, fort entrance or other precise landmark and share a map pin when possible. State whether you are in Jaipur city, Amber or another district location.
At a monument, Metro station, railway station, airport, hotel, temple, festival or forest reserve, alert on-site staff as well as emergency services. Follow authorised evacuation and closure instructions.
During heat, lightning, dust, intense rain or flooding, follow the India Meteorological Department and Rajasthan authorities. Do not continue through a barrier because an offline route still appears open.
Keep copies of identification, insurance, medication details, accommodation and emergency contacts offline. For a lost passport, contact local police and the relevant embassy or consulate.
