Bra
Bra Events
Cheese
Bra's international event. Cheese is a biennial festival organised by Slow Food, bringing together makers of artisanal cheeses from around the world in the town where the movement was founded. The scale is real: in 1997 it attracted some 150,000 visitors — five times Bra's population.
A caution on dates. This page does not give the next edition's dates or prices, and the reason is worth stating: the festival's own site could not be reached on 2026-10-11, and we do not publish operational details from anywhere other than the organiser. Check with Slow Food directly before planning a trip around it — and if the year is right, book accommodation months ahead, because a town of 29,466 people cannot absorb that many visitors.
Slow Food's other events, which are nearby
Bra is the headquarters, so the movement's calendar is worth knowing even though three of the four happen elsewhere:
- Terra Madre Salone del Gusto — in Turin.
- Cheese — here in Bra.
- Slow Fish — in Genoa.
- Slow Wine Fair — in Bologna.
The Zizzola
The belvedere building above the town is used as an exhibition space and is worth checking before a visit. The 2026 show Ricordé drew on over 30,000 historical photographs of Bra and ran from 19 September to 25 October with free admission.
What fills the town from outside
Alba's International White Truffle Fair runs 10 October to 6 December 2026 in its 96th edition, twenty minutes east. It does not fill Bra the way it fills Alba — which is exactly why Bra is the cheaper place to sleep in that window.
Planning
Outside a Cheese year, Bra needs no advance planning beyond a restaurant booking. In a Cheese year, it needs all of it.
