Greve in Chianti Events

The square is the event. Greve's main square has always exercised the function of a mercatale, and the market is the recurring fixture around which the town's calendar has been organised since the Middle Ages.

The comune runs its own tourist office, which is the authority for what is on and when. Its organisational structure lists both an Ufficio Turistico and a "Vivere il Comune" section covering events.

Autumn is the season with the most going on, for the reason the whole district exists: the grape harvest. Greve is the principal town of the Chianti wine district, and September and October are when that is most visible.
