The interest here is structural rather than stylistic. The sanctuary occupies a natural recess in the cliff, so the mountain itself forms part of the enclosure: bare rock meets built wall, and the building is braced against the face rather than standing free on level ground.
The 1970s reconstruction enlarged the church substantially within that constraint, extending it outward on terraces where the ledge allowed and leaving the older structure embedded within. The result is a modern interior reached through an approach that has barely changed — which is a large part of why the arrival is more striking than the architecture taken on its own.
