Keep a little mystery in your trip planning: Explorer Picture Mode shows a stylized version of every place instead of the real photo, so you can go by the description and reviews first and picture it your own way -- reveal the real photo any time by flipping the switch off, or just for one place at a time from its own page.

Visiting Schaumberg

Changed
A village that is located in the north-eastern Illinois called Cook County, Schaumburg is just estimated around 30 miles, or rather 48 km, away from the downtown area of Chicago, at the northwest area, and located around 8 mile, or rather 13 km, from O’Hare International Airport. The village has had a population of 75,386 due to the 2000 census.

Before Schaumburg was known as it is today, its old township was called Ace’s Grove. The reason for naming it Ace’s Grove was from the grove of woods that ran through the portion of the Township, in the northwest area, that was named for the families’ three women who lived adjacent to the grove: Memphis Frisbe, Milania McChesney, and Luciana Smith. Then in 1851, during the 1850 Township meeting the discussion for naming the Township came to two names: Lutherville or Lutherburg. Suddenly, a prominent German landowner name Friedrich Heinrich Nerge, shouted out, “Schaumburg schall et heiten!” which meant “It will be called Schaumburg!” From Nerge’s statement, the name of the Township was now official changed to today’s Schaumburg.

Motorola and one of the only two IKEA stores are located in Schaumburg, Illinois. Aside from that, there is the Woodfield Mall, known for being the third largest mall in the United States of America. There are two waterparks nearby and several golf courses dot the terrain. The Busse Wood Forest Reserve offer hiking and cycling activities. One of the most interesting event is September fest that is held on Labor Day weekend.
