Learn about Cadiz

The fascinating port city of Cádiz is the oldest town in Western Europe, whose history goes back to 1100 BC. The city is beautifully located on a peninsula on the Gulf of Cadiz. Cadiz has some similarities to the Cuban capital of Havana and is therefore sometimes called 'Little Havana.' A good example is the world-famous boulevard 'Malecon,' reminiscent of the promenade in Havana.

Cadiz is also known for its cathedral, one of the largest in Spain. Construction began in 1722 and was only finished after almost 120 years. Within the city walls of Cadiz, you find more beautiful churches and is an ideal place to take a relaxing walk and a little rest on one of the lovely squares surrounded by palm trees.
