Halloween Haunt — late September to early November

Kings Island’s autumn season is the busiest part of its year after midsummer, and a substantial operation in its own right: the park reopens on evenings at weekends with indoor mazes, outdoor scare zones staffed by several hundred costumed performers, live shows and the coasters running in the dark, alongside a separate daytime programme for families. It draws a noticeably older crowd than the summer season, Saturday nights are the busiest dates of the entire year, and queues for the headline attractions can exceed those of a July afternoon. Tickets are dated and sell out. The practical warnings are consistent: the site is exposed and late October evenings here are genuinely cold, and people arrive dressed for an amusement park rather than for standing outdoors after dark.

WinterFest — late November to early January

The park reopens with several million lights, the Eiffel Tower replica lit and colour-changing, an ice rink on the main avenue and a small number of rides running in the cold.

Opening day — April

The season opener draws the regional enthusiast community, particularly in years with a new ride.

Coaster enthusiast events — spring and autumn

The park hosts organised gatherings for the enthusiast community, with early access and behind-the-scenes tours, which are a genuine subculture with their own clubs and calendar.

Little Miami River paddling season — May to September

The liveries operate through the warm months and the river is busy at weekends.
