How to Get Around Sandusky

A car is necessary to reach Sandusky and useful once there; it is about an hour west of Cleveland and an hour east of the Michigan state line on the interstate.

Cedar Point has a large paid car park and a causeway in; traffic backs up badly at opening and closing on busy days. A water taxi runs from downtown in season, which avoids the queue and is the better option if you are staying in town.

Walking works in downtown Sandusky, which is compact.

Ferries to Kelleys Island and Put-in-Bay leave from the Jackson Street pier and from ports further west; the Jet Express is the fast passenger service.

On the islands, golf carts are the normal transport and can be hired.

Amtrak stops here, inconveniently, in the middle of the night.
