Introduction
Montevideo, the capital city of Uruguay, is a beautiful, vibrant and culturally rich place. By many, it is often referred to as heavenly prairie with miles of greeneries with the admiring sight of corns and beans during summers and layers of snow during winters.
Located in the South of Uruguay, Montevideo enjoys a subtropical climate with hot and very humid summers, dry and mild winters and a cool spring season characterized by thunderstorms and heavy downpours. The country boasts of a couple of renowned tourist attractions like Estadio Centenario which is large stadium primarily occupied for conducting international soccer championships. This stadium was the host to the world’s first FIFA world cup championship in 1930. Montevideo serves as the administrative headquarter for South America’s leading trade block, Mercosur. You may also see many embassies and cultural centers set right at the heart of the country. Palacio Salvo, a historic building located at the junction of 18 de Julio and Plaza Independicia is a hundred meter high building as a symbol to mark the place where Gerardo Matos penned his tango, La Cumparsita. Solis Theater is yet another favorite spot visited by many art lovers. It is the countries oldest theater and still a home to many world famous theatrical performances and dance performances.
Its main airport, Carrasaco International airport connects the country to most of the main South American countries like Bogota, Santiago, Mexico city, Buenos Aires, Asuncion, Sao Paulo etc.
