Borobudur (more correctly, Barabuḍur) is a Mahāyāna Buddhist monument dating from about 800 AD located in the central region of the island of Java in Indonesia. It has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It has been compared with other antique constructions, like the Pyramids of Giza.
