Sleeping Giant Rock Formation
Overview
Lying on its back in Thunder Bay, Ontario, is the Sleeping Giant Rock Formation. When viewed from the west the mass of hills and mesas looks like a large man sleeping on his back. Even a closer look reveals a distinctive Adam's apple near Squaw Bay. If you want to visit this natural wonder of Canada is it best to do so through the Sleeping Giant Provincial Park.
The Provincial Park combines waterfront walks on Lake Superior with rugged hiking trails through the boreal forest, up the cliffs, and into the heart of the Sleeping Giant. There are also facilities for camping, fishing, and boating. The campsites are well equipped with showers, restroom facilities, and playgrounds. Camping costs between $22 and $42 per night, depending on the location and facilities of the campground.
