Heritage Farm & Village Museum

In North Battleford, Saskatchewan, Canada, you can take a tour of Western Development's Heritage Farm and Village Museum. It is located just south of the airport. The indoor exhibits are open year round, seven days a week from 9am to 5pm. The outdoor exhibits are open the same hours from May to September. Admission is $8.50 for adults and $5.75 for students. An entire family can get in for the reduced rate of $18.50. There are also group rates available.

At the Heritage Farm and Village Museum you will be able to see many exhibits about the history of Canadian agriculture. There are many tractors, harvesters, and tillage equipment that ran on both gas and steam. You can also watch the workings of a typical Saskatchewan village from the 1920s. There is a farmhouse, barn, grain elevator, railway depot, general store, schoolhouse, and church. You can watch a tilling demonstration and visit real livestock in the barn.

A recent addition to the museum is an interactive exhibit called "Winning the Prairie Gamble." It uses multi-media and animatronics to tell the story of four different Saskatchewan inhabitants from the turn of the last century.

During your visit to the Heritage Farm and Village Museum you can pack a picnic lunch to enjoy on the grounds. You can also visit their gift shop for unique, historical items. Information packets are available so that you can give yourself a self-guided tour. The facilities are also available to rent for private events.
