The Central Hungary region consists of Pest County and the capital Budapest. It is the smallest of Hungary regions with 6,919 km² but has the largest population of approximately 2,951,436 people.

Location

The region is located in the northern part of Hungary and borders Slovakia. The four neighboring regions are Northern Hungary and the Northern Great Plain in the east, the Southern Great Plain in the south, and Central Transdanubia in the west.
